Toronto FC has signed Paul Rothrock and Adam Pearlman to short-term loan agreements from Toronto FC II, the club announced today.Â
Per MLS rules, the short-term agreement allows clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.
Rothrock, 23, has been called up to the First Team two times this season and made his debut with Toronto FC against Vancouver Whitecaps on May 8. He signed with TFC II on May 18, 2021 and made his debut with the Young Reds against FC Tucson on May 26. In two seasons (2021, 2022) with Toronto FC II, he has scored seven goals and appeared in 17 games. He was originally selected 64th overall (third round) by Toronto FC in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas in January.
Pearlman, 17, signed his first professional contract with Toronto FC II on April 8, 2021, and made his debut with TFC II against New York City FC II on April 10. He represented Toronto FC Academy in Ontario Player Development League and U.S. Soccer Development Academy across the U-12 to U-19 age groups from 2016 to 2021. He also participated in the U-13 2018 CONCACAF Champions League with the TFC Academy in Toluca, Mexico. He originally joined the Toronto FC Academy in October 2016.
