Toronto FC attacker Federico Bernardeschi has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 7 as a starter following his electric performance in the club’s 1-1 draw against Inter Miami CF at Chase Stadium.

Making a team-leading seventh start of the 2025 MLS season, Federico Bernardeschi combined with Italian compatriot Lorenzo Insigne to open the scoring with a stunning goal in the closing minutes of the first half. On the play, Bernardeschi ran onto a pass from Insigne and weaved through defenders Jordi Alba and Gonzalo Luján in the box before firing an outside-of-the-boot finish past goalkeeper Drake Callender.

The stoppage-time strike proved enough to earn Toronto FC a valuable road point against the reigning Supporters’ Shield winners and is currently nominated for the league’s AT&T Goal of the Matchday for Matchday 7.

The Italian international also recorded a team-leading shots (4), shots on target (2), key passes (3), ball actions (55) and sprints (17) on Sunday night. Bernardeschi has now recorded a club-leading four goal contributions (two goals, two assists) through the first seven matches of the season.

The honour marks Bernardeschi’s tenth MLS Team of the Matchday selection with Toronto FC and his first honour of the 2025 MLS season.
