Toronto FC announced today that the club has reached an agreement with Canadian Premier League (CPL) club, Pacific FC and signed defender Lukas MacNaughton through 2023 with options for 2024 and 2025.
“Lukas played a key role in Pacific FC’s CPL championship in 2021 and we are very excited that he will now join Toronto FC,” said Toronto FC Head Coach and Sporting Director Bob Bradley.
MacNaughton, 26, joins Toronto FC after spending the past three seasons with Pacific FC. During the 2021 season, MacNaughton made 29 appearances with two goals and an assist and was part of the club’s CPL Championship winning side, the first in club history. In three seasons at Pacific FC, MacNaughton made 59 combined appearances (CPL and Canadian Championship) with five goals and one assist.
Prior to joining the CPL, MacNaughton played in League1 Ontario with Alliance United and the North Toronto Nitros. He also played for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues from 2013 to 2017 and was named an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) East First-Team All-Star on four occasions from 2014 to 2017.
