Toronto FC announced today that the club has selected midfielder Víctor Vázquez in Stage 2 of the MLS Re-Entry Draft. Selecting a player in Stage 2 requires the selecting club to make the player an offer by a date determined and communicated by Major League Soccer (MLS).
Vázquez, 35, spent the past two seasons (2021-2022) with LA Galaxy, where he registered five goals and 11 assists over 57 appearances in all competitions (MLS regular season, MLS Cup Playoffs and U.S. Open Cup).
Vázquez also spent two seasons with Toronto FC, signing for the Reds ahead of the 2017 season. The Spanish midfielder recorded 18 goals and 28 assists in 65 appearances across all competitions for the club (MLS Regular Season, MLS Cup Playoffs, Canadian Championship, Concacaf Champions League). Vázquez was part of Toronto FC’s historic Treble-winning 2017 season, where the club claimed the MLS Cup, the Supporters’ Shield and the Canadian Championship.
Prior to returning to MLS, the midfielder spent two seasons playing for Al-Arabi Sports Club and Umm Salal Sport Club in Qatar and then in Belgium for K.A.S Eupen (First Division A) in 2020.
