STEP BY STEP
A week on from dropping a 1-2 result in their 2025 MLS Home Opener versus Chicago Fire on March 15, the Reds lost against the New York Red Bulls by the same scoreline at Sports Illustrated Stadium on March 22. New York Red Bulls captain Emil Forsberg scored the opener for the hosts from the penalty spot in the first half, before TFC’s Deandre Kerr equalized with a powerful header in the 70th minute. The second-half strike marked a goal in consecutive matches for Kerr, following the forward’s opener against the Fire in Matchday 4, and moved him into joint-tenth on the club’s all-time goalscoring charts with 18 goals. On the play, Derrick Etienne Jr. and Lorenzo Insigne also registered their first assists of the 2025 MLS campaign. The Red Bulls, however, responded six minutes later when Swedish midfielder Emil Forsberg scoring his second of the night to seal all three points from Harrison, New Jersey.
