2025 TELUS Canadian Championship Preliminary Round Schedule Announced

The 2025 TELUS Canadian Championship is one step closer to getting underway, with an exciting set of match-ups set to kick off this spring. The top Men’s Professional Club sides from across the country will compete in the annual ‘Battle of the North’. For the first time ever, a 15-team field will compete for the honour of hoisting the Voyageurs Cup. The following Preliminary Round round match-ups are scheduled for April and May.

The seven Preliminary Round winners will advance to the TELUS Canadian Championship Quarter-Final stage where they will be joined by last year’s champions, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, who both received a bye from the Preliminary Round. The Quarter-Finals will be played as a two-match home and away series in May and July.

Valour FC vs. TSS Rovers FC

  • Date: Wednesday 7 May, 2025
  • Time: 19:00 CT / 20:00 ET / 17.00 PT
  • Location: Princess Auto Stadium, Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • Notes: In the 2023 TELUS Canadian Championship, TSS Rovers became the first League1 Canada team to beat a professional side in the history of the competition, defeating Valour FC 3-1 at Burnaby’s Swangard Stadium. Valour last competed in the competition in 2024, falling to Atlético Ottawa in the Preliminary round

Pacific FC vs. Vancouver FC

  • Date: Tuesday 6 May, 2025
  • Time: 19:00 PT / 22:00 ET
  • Location: Starlight Stadium, Langford, British Columbia
  • Notes: These British Columbia CPL rivals have met eight times, with Vancouver FC winning five times, and Pacific FC emerging victorious in the other three matches. This will be the first clash between the sides in the TELUS Canadian Championship.

Cavalry FC vs. Edmonton Scottish United SC

  • Date: Tuesday 6 May, 2025
  • Time: 19:00 MT / 21:00 ET / 18:00 PT
  • Location: ATCO Field, Calgary, Alberta
  • Notes: This is Edmonton Scottish United’s first time qualifying for the TELUS Canadian Championship after securing a first-place finish in League1 Alberta. This clash will mark the first-ever meeting between the Alberta clubs, as the defending Canadian Premier League Champions, Cavalry FC, play host.

Atlético Ottawa vs. Scrosoppi FC

  • Date: Tuesday 29 April, 2025
  • Time: 19:00 ET / 16:00 PT
  • Location: TD Place Stadium, Ottawa, Ontario
  • Notes: Scrosoppi FC, based in Milton, Ontario will be making their debut in the TELUS Canadian Championship after being crowned League1 Ontario Champions in 2024. Atlético Ottawa advanced to the Quarter-Final stage of the competition in 2024.

York United FC vs. FC Laval

  • Date: Tuesday 6 May, 2025
  • Time: 19:00 ET / 16:00 PT
  • Location: York Lions Stadium, Toronto, Ontario
  • Notes: FC Laval are making their second appearance in the competition, having previously competed in the 2023 TELUS Canadian Championship. York United’s best finish in the competition was a semi-final appearance in 2021. This will be the first-ever meeting between the clubs.

Toronto FC vs. CF Montréal

  • Date: Wednesday 30 April, 2025
  • Time: 19:00 ET / 16:00 PT
  • Location: BMO Field, Toronto, Ontario
  • Notes: This long-standing rivalry will have yet another chapter written in late April as CF Montréal pays Toronto FC a visit. The two sides have combined to win 13 of the last 17 editions of the competition.

Forge FC vs. Halifax Wanderers FC

  • Date: Wednesday 7 May, 2025
  • Time: 19:00 ET / 16:00 PT
  • Location: Hamilton Stadium, Hamilton, Ontario
  • Notes: Halifax Wanderers FC have twice made the Quarter-Final round of the competition, in 2019 and 2022. Forge has previously reached the TELUS Canadian Championship Final, losing to Toronto FC in the 2020 edition.
