Toronto FC II picked up a big win over the playoff-bound Charleston Battery on Saturday evening as both Ayo Akinola and Jordan Hamilton picked up goals in the 2-1 victory.
Nothing came from a first half that saw Charleston come closest to scoring hitting the woodwork late in the frame.
The hosts opened the scoring in the just a few minutes into the second half as Patrick Okonkwo slide one past Caleb Patterson-Sewell.
Just four minutes the Reds equalized as Ayo Akinola tapped home a great low cross from Matt Srbely.
The Young Reds jumped in front as substitute Jordan Hamilton made an instant impact heading home a cross from Terique Mohammed.
Both goals were scored with a TFC Academy assist and a TFC Academy finish.
The backline held strong as Charleston pressed for the equalizer, but the fourth-place Battery couldn’t get past Patterson-Sewell.
Toronto FC II are back in action on Friday as they close out their 2018 home schedule with a date against the defending champs Louisville City at Lamport Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:00 PM.
