TORONTO – The long-awaited return to BMO Field was particularly special for one player.
Pablo Piatti, who joined Toronto FC from RCD Espanyol in February, made his home debut on Tuesday night in a 3-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
That he scored two goals, his first for the club, only heightened the occasion.
The first was a thing of beauty, picking up the ball on the right side of the arc, Piatti moved in-field – actually further away from goal – in search of space to unleash a curling left-footer that beat Thomas Hasal to the right-side of goal.
It was a strike worthy of being the game-winner.
