Toronto FC II announced that the club has signed defender Nyal Higgins to a USL contract. He will join the club’s roster pending league and federation approval.
Higgins, 22, split his college career between Oakland University (2016-2018) and Syracuse University (2019). With Oakland University, Higgins appeared in 49 games and scored four goals in three seasons. Higgins was recognized as All-Horizon League Second Team in 2017 and 2018, and Horizon League-All Freshman Team in 2016. During his senior year with Syracuse University, Higgins made 19 appearances, starting all games in which he played. Higgins was originally selected 19th overall by Toronto FC in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft.
