Toronto FC Sign Two Homegrown Players and Another Local Product

Daniels Dunn Telfer Split

Toronto FC announced Friday that the club has signed midfielder Aidan Daniels, defender Julian Dunn and midfielder/forward Ryan Telfer. Daniels and Dunn become the 17th and 18th Homegrown players to sign first team deals from the Academy. In addition, they become the fifth and sixth players to complete the full player pathway designed at Toronto FC.


“Today marks a special day at Toronto FC where Aidan, Julian and Ryan have earned first team contracts. They are Canadian homegrown players who are products of the full player pathway we have at Toronto FC and we are excited for them to take this next step in their development. Ryan has continually grown from his days playing at York University through Toronto FC II and now with the first team,” said Toronto FC Sr. Vice President, Soccer Operations & General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “The three joined the team in Colorado earlier this week and will be available for team selection on Saturday. I would also like to thank Greg, Jason, Corey, Laurent and our entire academy and club staff for the work to help get these players into the first team.”


Daniels 19, is currently in his third season with Toronto FC II. Over his three seasons with the club he has appeared in 40 matches registering one goal. Last season, Daniels represented Toronto FC III at the 69th Viareggio Cup and appeared and started in all three matches. He was also named to the Canadian U-20 national team where he represented his country at the 2017 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship.


Dunn 17, appeared in 13 matches logging 1,088 minutes during the 2017 season for Toronto FC II. He made his professional debut on July 1, 2017 against the Harrisburg City Islanders. That same season, Dunn represented Toronto FC III at the 69th Viareggio Cup. Internationally, Dunn was named to the Canadian U-17 national team for the 2017 CONCACAF Men’s Under- 17 Championship.


Telfer 24, is currently in his second season with Toronto FC II. Last season he appeared in 29 matches registering one goal and one assist. Prior to his USL career, Telfer spent two seasons at York University. With the Lions he appeared in 18 matches registering six goals.
