Toronto FC will begin their MLS Cup title defence when they host Columbus Crew SC in their 2018 home opener at BMO Field on Saturday, March 3 with kick-off set for 1:00 p.m. ET. Major League Soccer (MLS) announced Thursday the complete regular season schedule for the 2018 season, which marks the 23rd season in league history.
This will be the first time in the 12-year history of Toronto FC that the Reds will play their MLS season opening match in Toronto. Toronto FC will have a Week 2 bye and resume league play with the first installment of the 401 Derby when they take on the Montreal Impact in their home opener at Olympic Stadium on Saturday, March 17 with kick-off set for 3:00 p.m. ET.
During the 2018 season, Toronto FC will play 20 matches on Saturdays, five on Fridays, four on Wednesdays and five on Sundays. The club will play nine home matches on Saturdays, four on Fridays, one on Wednesday and three Sundays.
Eight of the Reds 17 home matches at BMO Field will come against teams that made the 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs. Toronto FC will host the league’s newest expansion team Los Angeles FC on Saturday, September 1 in the only meeting between the two clubs this season. The Montreal Impact will come to BMO Field on Saturday, August 25 for the second of three 401 Derby matches and the Reds will close out their road schedule in Montreal on Sunday, October 21. The Reds will host Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday, October 6. Toronto will host Seattle Sounders FC on Wednesday, May 9 in a re-match between the 2017 MLS Cup finalists.
