On this week’s edition of We Are TFC II, we sit down with defender Anthony Osorio.
What has been your favourite moment in your soccer career thus far?
Osorio: The 3-2 win vs. Montreal and getting two assists in that game.
At what moment did you know you could go pro?
Osorio: During high school when I was given the opportunity of a trial in Uruguay which was a success and started from there.
Do you have a coach/mentor that has impacted your soccer career?
Osorio: Each coach I’ve had has made as big of an impact as the other, reason being, they each taught me different things about the game.
A player you like to model your game after?
Osorio: No player specific, but I enjoy watching and learning from great left backs like Marcelo, [David] Alaba and Jordi Alba.
Taking a quick look at your phone, which photo in it means the most to you?
Osorio: Any photo with my family, the reason being they’re the most important people in my life.
What has it been like to be in the same club as your brothers Jonathan (First team) and Nicholas (Academy)?
Osorio: We are very fortunate. The three of us have always been working hard to pursue our dreams of getting into the first team. Hopefully, that can happen one day That’s the main goal… It would be a dream come true.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Osorio: Hanging out with friends, going out to dinners and hanging out in downtown Toronto.
Any specific spot downtown?
Osorio: I’m always near the Dundas Square area. It has a cool vibe to chill in. I also like shopping on Queen Street. I always enjoy doing that.
Do you have a favourite movie?
Osorio: Rush Hour 2.
Last show you binge-watched?
Osorio: Stranger Things.
Excited for the new season?
Osorio: Oh yeah. I’m gonna re-watch the first season over. Just to kind of get my head refreshed then on to the next one.
Music Artist?
Osorio: Drake.
How have you found the adjustment from the Academy to the pros?
Osorio: It has been a good transition spending little time in the academy. The coaches have helped me well and taught me key things during my time in the academy.
How did the Academy help in your development as a professional?
Osorio: They really helped me on the small things that are huge in the professional game.
You were on the TFC Academy League1 Ontario team that went undefeated and won the inter-provincial cup, what was that experience like?
Osorio: That team was one of my favourite teams I’ve ever played on in my life. We were all brothers on the team, we were like a family. Every game we knew what we had to do. It was a special season because we went undefeated. To win, what I believe was the first championship for the Academy, it was big.
Have any pre-game superstitions?
Osorio: One thing I always do is put my left sock on first. It's just something I always do.
If you weren’t playing soccer, what would you be doing?
Osorio: That is one question I ask myself every day. Until this time, I honestly don’t know. Soccer has been my life since I started kicking a ball. So honestly, I can’t even answer that question.
