Toronto FC Academy forward Ayo Akinola has been named to U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team head coach John Hackworth's roster for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India (October 6-28).  

Akinola was named to the preliminary roster early this month and had spent the spring with the U.S. Residency program in Bradenton, Florida. Akinola competed for the U.S. in the CONCACAF U-17 Championship in April scoring four times on the way to the finals where the U.S. ultimately fell to Mexico on penalty kicks. 

The U.S. opens group play on October 6 against India (10:30 AM ET) followed by a match against Ghana on October 9 (7:30 AM ET) and close out the group stage on October 12 against Columbia (10:30 AM). 

The U.S. U-17s depart for pre-world cup training in Dubai on Septemeber 24.
