GA Cup Recap: U-17s Defeat FC Dallas 2-0

TFCA GA Cup

Second half goals from Shaan Hundal and Ethan Beckford propelled the Kia Toronto FC Academy to a 2-0 victory over FC Dallas in their second match of the Generation adidas Cup.

The Kia TFC Academy now have a win and a loss over the two matches they've played. The Young Reds will take on Valencia CF from Spain to close out the group stage.

It was always going to be an exciting matchup against the FC Dallas team that was crowned 2015 USSDA National Champions.

The squad started the match off on the right foot, constantly pressuring the FC Dallas back line, looking for the opening goal.

Hundal had the two best opportunities in the first half: a shot from a tight angle that was saved by the Dallas keeper after a great pass from Beckford, and a redirect from a corner that went straight into the Dallas keeper’s hands.

Goalkeeper Cristian Rossi’s only real test in the first half was a shot that he was able to palm away in the 15th minute.

Both teams would go into halftime scoreless.

The Kia TFC Academy broke the deadlock a mere six minutes into the second half.

Hundal, with the ball at his feet, broke through three FC Dallas defenders before calmly knocking it past the Dallas keeper, putting the Reds on the board.

They doubled their lead a minute later.

Beckford controlled a high pass played into him from the left flank before smashing a low shot into the far corner.

FC Dallas piled on the pressure after going down two goals but the Reds defended well and Rossi was rewarded with the clean sheet for his solid performance.
