Soccer Canada announced Thursday its roster ahead of qualifying matches for the 2014 World Cup with three members of Toronto FC earning a call to the national team. The qualifying matches take place in November.

Toronto FC Midfielder Matt Stinson has earned his first call-up to the senior men’s national side. Stinson, 19, appeared in 13 league matches, starting in five this season for the Reds, his first as a professional. The Toronto native, previously featured for Canada at the U-16 and U-20 levels. Joining Stinson, are defender Ashtone Morgan and midfielder Julian de Guzman.

“We are very happy for Matt, Ashtone and Julian for earning a spot on their national team. It is one of the highest honours a player can receive,” said Toronto FC Head Coach and Technical Director Aron Winter. “Matt and Ashtone have grown in the Toronto FC system and were important members of the first team this season. They have both done well with the opportunities, Toronto FC has given them. Julian has been a regular for Canada and it is no surprise he continues to earn the call after strong performances for our club and country this season.”

Morgan, who was the first Toronto FC Academy graduate to earn a senior call-up returns to the national team after earning his first cap for Canada last month as a substitute against St. Lucia. de Guzman has earned 51 caps for Canada and has scored four goals during his international career.

Canada has two matches remaining in the second round, both against St. Kitts and Nevis. The first in St.Kitts and Nevis on November 11, and the final group match at BMO Field on Tuesday November 15. Canada currently sit atop the Group D standings with ten points from four matches, and need only one point to advance to the third round of qualifying.
