We are TFC: Quillan Roberts

We are TFC Q

This is the latest installment of We Are TFC. Every week, we’ll sit down with one of the Reds and help you get to know them a little bit better, on and off the field. This week, Adam Krueger chats with Quillan Roberts. The Toronto native has been with the club since 2012, and is working towards making his MLS debut. We hope you’ll enjoy this series and let us know which TFC players you’d like to see profiled in the future.
Take a look at your phone, what picture on there means the most to you?

ROBERTS: I don’t take a lot of pictures to be honest but probably one of me with my dog (pictured below) or my girlfriend.

We are TFC: Quillan Roberts -

How would people close to you describe you in one word?

ROBERTS: Quiet.

What’s your favourite pastime?

ROBERTS: I like to play EA Sports FIFA.

Who is your go to team on FIFA 17?

ROBERTS: FC Bayern Munich...I love to play with both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. The pace of Robben and the skill of Ribery is deadly.

Favourite soccer player of all time and why?

ROBERTS: Oliver Kahn because of the way he plays. He’s crazy. He’s mental. But he was also a great goalkeeper.

Best friend on the team?

ROBERTS: Probably Ashtone Morgan.

A bit of a Canadian connection?

ROBERTS: Oh Yeah.

So your are the only goalie ever to score in a FIFA World Cup competition, take us through that?

ROBERTS: Yeah sure, I was just dribbling the ball up the field. Everyone kept telling me to push up further down the field. At one point I just said thats enough. So then I tried to clip it to my striker. Both players went up and completely missed the ball and it bounced in. I remember everyone going absolutely insane. It was an awesome experience.

Any superstitions?

ROBERTS: Nope.

Who on the team has the strangest superstition?

ROBERTS: I wouldn't say a superstition but Steven Beitashour has a strange routine. I don’t know what it is, I don’t know what to call it. You just have to see it.

Who is your favourite music artist?

ROBERTS: Don’t have one. I listen to anything other than country. (laughs)

What do you like to do in the offseason?

ROBERTS: I don’t go anywhere in the offseason. I stay home, play FIFA, enjoy the snow – Canadian boy, you know?

If you weren’t a soccer player, what would you be doing?

ROBERTS: I’d be in school. Probably studying kinesiology.

What’s your favourite moment with the club so far?

ROBERTS:  Either playing against Liverpool or Tottenham or Roma.

When I say Toronto, what is the first thing that comes to mind?

ROBERTS: Home.
