U-17’s Record 4-1 Win On Final Day of GA Cup

U17 Team

The U-17 Kia Toronto FC Academy scored four unanswered goals in their 4-1 win against Columbus Crew SC Academy to close out the 2016 Generation adidas Cup.

It was a rough start for the Young Reds as Columbus scored six minutes in.

Columbus forced a turnover and their midfielder beat goalkeeper Gianluca Catalano with a top corner strike from about 20 yards.

They came close to taking a two-goal advantage but Catalano was able to tip the Columbus free kick off the bar and out.

From there on out it was all TFC Academy.

In the 17th minute Columbus’ keeper made a massive save to deny Shaan Hundal of a highlight-reel bicycle kick goal.

He would get his revenge shortly after, faking out two defenders in the box before sliding it past the Columbus goalie to level the match for the Young Reds.

Glenn Muenkat would make it 2-1 for TFC Academy a few minutes later.

A through ball by Armando Caracciolo put Hundal in behind the Columbus back line but his shot in close was saved. Muenkat followed up and cleaned up the rebound.

Luca Petrasso made it 3-1 with a spectacular individual effort. Petrasso dribbled down the right flank past a Columbus defender and into the box before cutting to his left and placing it into the far corner from a tight angle.

Columbus came close to cutting down the lead seconds before halftime but their shot luckily struck the post.

Five minutes into the second half Caracciolo made it 4-1.

The tricky winger received a pass inside the box and cut to his right before lacing a shot into the upper corner of the near post.

The U-17’s would go on to record a 4-1 victory and their third win of the tournament.
