Toronto FC II announced today that defender Nyal Higgins has been loaned to Atlético Ottawa of the Canadian Premier League through December 2021.

Higgins, 23, made nine appearances for Toronto FC II during the 2021 USL League One season, wearing the captain’s armband on four occasions. He was originally selected 19th overall by Toronto FC in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft and signed with Toronto FC II on June 30, 2020.

Prior to joining Toronto FC II, Higgins split his college career between Oakland University (2016-2018) and Syracuse University (2019). Higgins appeared in 49 games and scored four goals in three seasons with Oakland University. He was recognized as All-Horizon League Second Team in 2017 and 2018, and Horizon League-All Freshman Team in 2016. During his senior year with Syracuse University, Higgins appeared and started in all 19 matches he played.
