Toronto FC announced today that the club has acquired defender Aimé Mabika from Inter Miami CF through 2023 with options for 2024 and 2025. In exchange, Toronto FC has sent $100,000 in 2024 General Allocation Money (GAM). As part of the trade, Inter Miami will also receive up to an additional $100,000 in conditional GAM if performance-based metrics are met and retain a sell-on percentage for Mabika.
Mabika, 24, was originally selected by Inter Miami as the 26th overall selection in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. He spent the 2021 season with Inter Miami CF II (formerly Fort Lauderdale CF), where he logged 1,260 minutes across 14 appearances (all starts) during the USL League One regular season. On January 13, 2022, Mabika signed a First Team contract with Inter Miami CF and made 18 appearances across all competitions (MLS, MLS Cup Playoffs and U.S. Open Cup) in his first season with the club.
