Toronto FC Academy secured the title of the 2024 League1 Ontario (L1ON) Men’s Championship division after an 8-1 win over Darby FC at BMO Training Ground on Saturday, August 24. TFC Academy topped the league table with 45 points and finished with an overall record of 14W-1L-3T.

TFC Academy’s 2024 season opened with an impressive 4-1 road win against Darby FC, which kicked off a five-game win streak between April 26 and May 25. Following the club’s only regular season loss against FC London on June 1, TFC Academy remained undefeated in their next 12 games (9W-3T) to complete their campaign and lift the L1ON Men’s Championship trophy.

Scoring a total of 66 goals and conceding only 18, the highest and lowest in the division respectively, TFC had an outstanding 18-game season to remember. Forward Emile Kisse recorded a team-high 11 goals for the club, while the team recorded five clean sheets throughout the season.

Through the 2024 season, 18 TFC Academy players were named to the Team of the Week (33 nominations across 17 matchweeks). Midfielder and captain, Ethan Kang led TFC with seven honours and was named to the Team of the Month twice (June-July). In total, TFC had four Team of the Month honours including Luca Accettola and Tyler Londono Zapata, in addition to Kang’s pair of honours.

The winner of the L1ON Championship division will be promoted to the Premier Division for the 2025 season. Following a reconstruction in MLS NEXT age group levels, the TFC Academy will not be competing in L1ON next year and will be fielding a team in MLS NEXT moving forward. As a result, the second-place team in the Championship men’s division, FC London (41 points), will gain promotion to the Premier Division in place of TFC Academy for the 2025 season
