The Kia Toronto FC Senior Academy team came from behind to defeat Woodbridge Strikers SC this past weekend by a 2-1 score. After playing a match on Friday and having such short turnaround time, the Senior team started the match with a number of changes to the team and quite a few notable players on the bench. The Senior Academy team started off strong and played most of the first 30 minutes of the match in the Woodbridge half , but couldn’t create enough quality chances at goal, and were not rewarded for our dominant play. The Strikers opened the scoring in the 31st minute off a free kick and converted from a cross and header. At the start of the second half the Kia Toronto FC Senior Academy team made some important changes in key positions that helped level the score. Molham Babouli opened the scoring after capitalizing on a through ball played by Luca Uccello, leading his goal tally to a total of 7. With 15 minutes remaining in the match, the Senior team’s dominance was rewarded again when Dapo Afolayana hit a low-driven strike that hit the inside of the far post and nestled itself into the net, capping off a fantastic come back to give the Kia Toronto FC Senior Academy team a 2-1 victory.
