Toronto FC returned to winning ways in scintillating fashion, dispatching expansion-side Charlotte FC 4-0 on Saturday night.
The match marked the debuts for a pair of Designated Players, as Italian internationals Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi made big contributions in a memorable night at BMO Field.
Jonathan Osorio got the scoring started just four minutes into the match as a defeclted clearance bounced off the Canadian and into the back of the net.
Captain Michael Bradley double the lead just six minutes later, nodding home a cross at the near post courtesy of a Bernardeschi corner kick.
The provider turned goalscorer in the 31st minute, unleashing a long-distance effort to the far post to extend the lead to three.
Bradley completed his brace just before the stroke of halftime, with Insigne playing a delightful backheel through to the captain who finished with a cool chip past the keeper.
The Reds are back in action on Tuesday night with silverware on the line, as the 2022 Canadian Championship Final is set to be contested at BC Place against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
