AN ODE TO THE PAST

Toronto FC visit New York Red Bulls, one of only ten original MLS teams in 1996, for the 41st encounter in the all-time series between the two clubs. Historically, TFC hold a 9W-21L-10T record through their first 40 regular season meetings with the Red Bulls. The two clubs have previously faced off in New Jersey on 20 separate occasions, with the Reds holding a combined 2W-16L-2T record at Red Bull Arena and Giants Stadium. TFC will be looking for their first road victory against the Red Bulls since recording a 2-0 victory in the Redsā€™ MLS regular season opener eight years ago, courtesy of goals from Sebastian Giovinco and Mark Delgado at Red Bull Arena on March 6, 2016.

THE CLIMB CONTINUES

Toronto FC enter Saturdayā€™s match in New Jersey fresh from picking up a late loss against Nashville SC at BMO Field on Wednesday evening. The Reds made their first-half dominance count, when Alonso Coelloā€™s side-footed effort from Bernardeschiā€™s pass flew past Nashvilleā€™s Joe Willis to find the back of the net. The 34th minute goal marked: the Spanish midfielderā€™s first competitive goal for Toronto FC in his 39th appearance for the club, Bernardeschiā€™s fifth MLS assist of the 2024 season and Derrick Etienne Jr.ā€™s first MLS assist for the Reds. Nashville SC, however, drew level through Sam Surridgeā€™s neat 64th minute finish before Surridge completed his brace with a game-winning goal in the 90th minute to secure all three points for the Boys in Gold.
