On August 21st, Toronto FC took part in the launch of the KickStart Program. Through a partnership of the MLSE Foundation, Kia and Toronto Community Housing Corporation, the KickStart program allows children with limited access to sport the opportunity to participate in a program that will develop soccer and life skills.

Team captain Steven Caldwell spoke to the importance of the program and Toronto FC’s involvement:

“All of us at Toronto FC are proud to partner with the MLSE Foundation to help deliver the KickStart program in communities in need around the city. People play soccer in every country around the world and it’s important that every kid have an opportunity to experience how impactful sports like soccer can be”.

The day of the launch allowed the children in attendance to participate in soccer activities with professionals, as well as get autographs and photos taken with some of their favorite athletes.

The KickStart program moves through 15 communities throughout Toronto over the course of six weeks, and will reach the over 300 kids that are registered.

In September, as the program started in different communities, TFC players Daniel Lovitz and Doneil Henry surprised some of the kids at two separate practices.
