The road trip continues for TFC II as they hop over from New York to Ohio to take on FC Cincinnati in a Sunday afternoon affair at the treacherous Nippert Stadium. It is a battle between the first and last place teams in the Eastern Conference.
TFC II is fresh off a 3-3 thrilling draw against NYRB II, which saw three lead changes and TFC II come away with a point to open their road trip. Overall, Michael Rabasca’s side is 1-3-1 in their last five.
FC Cincinnati has been the story of the USL in 2018. The 2019 MLS expansion side has run off six straight wins and is unbeaten in 17 straight games. Their last defeat came in May when they fell 2-0 to Louisville City.
Within those 17 straight unbeaten games, FC Cincinnati has only drawn four times, one of which was the first meeting between these two sides back in June. FC Cincinnati looked like they were going to cruise to another victory as they held a 3-1 lead into the break. However, TFC II got a goal from Robert Boskovic and a stunning equalizer from Jordan Hamilton to storm back for the improbable draw.
Two players to watch on Sunday are Emmanuel Ledesma and Fanendo Adi. Ledesma leads the team in both goals with 13 and assists with 12 and should be in consideration for the USL MVP award at season’s end. Adi joined the club at the end of July from the Portland Timbers and will be the club’s first ever designated player when they join MLS in 2019. The big man from Nigeria has scored once in six appearances for far for FCC.
There could be 20,000+ at Nippert on Sunday afternoon so expect an incredible atmosphere. Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM and you can catch all the action right here on TFC2.ca
