November is Toronto FC Academy Health and Wellness Month presented by BMO. Throughout the month, all the Toronto FC Academy teams will take part in a variety of sessions focused our athletes’ health and well-being.
“We are excited to bring back our Health & Wellness month here in the Academy,“ said TFC Academy Director Anthony Capotosto, “These unique sessions will offer our players a wide range of interactive sessions that will help enhance their overall development and give them the tools they need to be successful, not only on the soccer field, but in their everyday lives.”
The first session of the month took place on Tuesday and featured two parts, both focusing on the athlete’s cerebral skills. Toronto FC’s Director of Sports Science, Jim Liston, led Part One, which focused on mindset. Part Two was run by Toronto FC Director of High Performance and Toronto FC II Head Coach, Michael Rabasca. Rabasca’s presentation focused on brain strength and managing an athlete’s fight-or-flight responses.
The next session is taking place this evening, focusing on communication and will include both the TFC Academy athletes and their parents. The remainder of the sessions can be found in the schedule below.
