Toronto FC (7W-10L-3T, 24 points) dropped a 3-0 road result to New York Red Bulls (9W-4L-7T, 34 points) at Red Bull Arena on Saturday evening.

First Half:

Toronto FC Head Coach John Herdman made a sole change from Wednesday’s starters against Nashville SC with Sigurd Rosted replacing Raoul Petretta at the back.

With just under 10 minutes played, proceedings in Hoboken were halted and the match was temporarily suspended due to severe weather conditions in the area. Play resumed an hour and 40 minutes later and Toronto’s Luka Gavran was called into action early, making an instinctive save to deny New York’s Dante Vanzeir’s goal-bound effort in the 20th minute.

New York Red Bulls, however, found the night’s opening goal when Brazilian forward Elias Manoel picked up a pass from defender Noah Eile and unleased a long-range strike past Gavran in the 29th minute.

TFC were forced into a first-half change in the 39th minute with Kosi Thompson replacing Alonso Coello due to injury, before the Reds entered the half-time interval trailing by one.

Second Half:

Red Bulls began the second half on the front foot and doubled their advantage in the 47th minute when Wiki Carmona’s rifled pass across the box was met by a sliding finish from Dennis Gjengaar, marking the Norwegian winger’s first MLS goal.

The hosts added a third and final goal when substitute Cameron Harper ran onto Dylan Nealis’s pass and found the bottom-left corner with a tidy left-footed finish in the 75th minute.

With the Reds unable to spark a late comeback in New Jersey, New York Red Bulls secured all three points with the 3-0 victory and extended the club’s unbeaten streak at home to 12 matches.

Next up, Toronto FC hit the road to face Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday evening. Kickoff from Atlanta, Georgia is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
