Toronto FC II continues their 8-game home stand against Louisville City FC this Saturday at 3PM.
TFC II recorded their first victory at the Ontario Soccer Centre last Friday, defeating the Charleston Battery 1-0 in a high tempo match against one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.
With the win the team snapped a four game losing skid and scored their first goal at their new stadium.
Your Reds currently sit 10th in the Eastern Conference, 1 point ahead of FC Montreal, with a record of 9-4-3 over 16 matches.
The Opposition
Louisville City FC is coming off a 3-1 victory against last in the Eastern Conference Wilmington Hammerheads.
The team is on a five game winning streak and moved into second in the Eastern Conference this weekend. The team has a record of 10-3-5 and sits 8 points behind league leaders Rochester Rhinos.
Louisville were dominant in the first match between the two teams this season, beating the Reds 4-0 at Louisville Slugger Field.
“They are one of the better footballing teams in the entire league,” said Head Coach Jason Bent following Wednesday’s training session.
“I think they’re a very good team, well coached, and they won 3-1 against Wilmington last week so we’re expecting a very attacking team and it’ll be a big test for us,” he added.
Players to Watch
Forward Matt Fondy has scored 12 goals for Louisville this season and has 6 goals during their five game winning streak. Fondy had a brace against your Reds in the first meeting between the two clubs.
Midfielder Magnus Rasmussen is another one of Louisville’s goal scoring threats. The Denmark native is second in team scoring behind Fondy with 7 goals in 16 matches.
Midfielder Charlie Adams was named to USL’s Team of the Week for Week 19. Adams was the difference maker for Louisville in their 3-1 victory on Saturday, notching a goal and an assist, and winning a penalty.
Injury Report
Wesley Charpie returned to training this week but won’t be available for Saturday’s match, as he is still not fully recovered from an ankle injury.
Massimo Mirabelli took a knock in the AS Roma Primavera friendly on Tuesday but it did not appear to be anything serious. He is expected to be in the lineup against Louisville.
