Who: TFC II (1-0-2) vs. FC Cincinnati (2-2-0)
When: Sunday, April 24 at 4:00PM ET
Where: Ontario Soccer Centre
Livestream: tfc2.ca
Toronto FC II are back at the Ontario Soccer Centre this Sunday to take on USL newcomers FC Cincinnati at 4PM ET.
Last weekend the Young Reds shared points with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in a 2-2 draw in front of a home opening sell-out crowd.
Nick Hagglund, recently loaned from the first team, and Raheem Edwards were your goal scorers for TFC II. Edwards leads the team offensively with three goals in each match played so far this season.
FC Cincinnati comes across the border as one of six 2016 USL expansion clubs. The team is coming off a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Louisville City FC.
They will be an unfamiliar foe for TFC II, with the exception being forward Andrew Wiedeman who spent three seasons with Toronto FC from 2012-2014.
“I know Andrew very well, I spent several years working with him,” said TFC II Head Coach Jason Bent. “He’s a very clean striker of the ball with both feet and he has a nose for the goal.”
“He’s sharp in and around the box. We have to be aware of him at all times as well as the other striker Sean Okoli,” he added.
The Young Reds have been decent defensively allowing only five goals in three games and will need to be at their best in order to contain the two aforementioned forwards.
Players to Watch
Andrew Wiedeman. The Cincinnati forward scored the first goal in club history and added an assist in that same match against Bethlehem Steel FC. The backline will be cautious with the former Toronto FC forward.
Sean Okoli. The former Sounders Academy product has two goals and an assist in four matches this season, including a spectacular scissor kick that was one of the USL goals-of-the-week in Week 3. Okoli is a fast and powerful forward that will make life difficult for the TFC II backline.
Austin Berry. The centre back has two goals in his last two matches. Cincinnati allowed three goals last weekend so Berry and the rest of the Cincinnati backline will want to redeem themselves come Sunday.
