The Young Reds will take on their inter-provincial rivals for the third and final time this Saturday as they travel to Ottawa to take on the Fury. To get you set here is everything you need to know about the team from Ottawa.


2017 Season:

The Fury haven’t had the greatest transition from NASL to the USL this year. Ottawa is currently 5-6-6 in their debut season in the USL and sit 3 points out of the last playoff spot.

Last time we met:

The two sides met just 21 days ago, at the Ontario Soccer Centre. Luca Uccello’s wonder goal sent the home crowd home happy with a 1-0 victory. The teams played to a 0-0 draw in April in the first meeting between the two.

Key Player: Ryan Williams

The Englishman is in his second season with the Fury after coming over in July of 2016. The attacking minded midfielder has made 14 appearances for the Fury this season. He leads the club in key passes (18) and assists (2). Williams has also been credited with 18 shots, of which three have gone in. Williams was a key figure in the Fury’s first leg victory over Toronto FC in the Canadian Championship. Before his time in Ottawa, Williams spent three seasons with Morecambe in League two and made an appearance for Brentford in the Championship.


Unsung Hero: Lance Rozeboom

The midfielder has started in 16 of the club’s 17 games this season. The former second round SuperDraft pick is in his second season with the Fury. The native of Walker, Iowa has previously played for the Rochester Rhinos and the Austin Aztex. Rozeboom currently leads the team with an 85.5% pass completion rating on 558 passes.


Canadian Content

Nine Canucks are currently on the Fury’s roster. Goalkeepers Callum Irving, Andrew MacRae and David Paulmin, defenders Eddie Edward, Thomas Meilleur-Giguere, and Aron Mkungilwa, midfielder Jamar Dixon and forwards Carl Haworth and Adonijah Reid all lace them up for the Fury.


Of the eight, Callum Irving, Jamar Dixon and Eddie Edward play the significant roles for the Fury.


Reid recently arrived at the Fury on loan from FC Dallas. The Brampton, Ontario native was selected 40th overall in the 2017 MLS Superdraft by FCD. Reid signed a Generation Adidas deal prior to the SuperDraft.
