The Independence have had a mediocre season thus far. At 3-3-2 they currently sit in 9th place in the east with 11 points. After a decent start, they have scuffled a bit going winless in five before picking up a victory in their most recent game against FC Cincinnati.

The Independence currently hold the all-time edge with TFC II going 1-3-3 all time. Last season TFC II picked up four points against Charlotte including a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory in Charlotte.
Earlier this season TFC II fell 2-0 at the hands of the Jacks in what was just their second game of the season. Jorge Herrera and Caleb Calvert had the goals for Charlotte in the victory.

Key Players
You can’t talk about Charlotte without talking about Jorge Herrera. The 37-year-old has spent the last three seasons with the Jacks and played prior to the USL with the Charlotte Eagles. He is second all-time in USL scoring. This season the midfielder leads the Jacks with four goals and two assists.
The other main presence in the midfield is Alex Martinez. The 26-year-old leads the team in total passes and has chipped in with two assists. Martinez is the younger brother of former Independence star Enzo Martinez. The older Martinez brother was promoted to the MLS and has put together a strong campaign with the Colorado Rapids.
