Toronto FC and the Kia Toronto FC Academy will be hosting the 2015-2016 Generation adidas Cup fall regional qualifying event beginning this Friday, October 9 at the Kia Training Ground.
The Generation adidas Cup is an annual tournament for U-17 MLS academy teams.
Teams are divided into three regions (East, Central, and West) and participate in two qualifying events per region, one in the fall and one in the spring.
The Kia Toronto FC Academy will be playing in the East region against D.C. United, New England Revolution, New York Red Bulls, Orlando City SC and the Philadelphia Union in the qualifying round.
The spring qualifying event for the East will be played in Sanford, Florida, followed by the national event that will take place in Dallas.
The top two teams from each division (East, Central, and West) will qualify for the Champions Division, a final group stage that will determine the overall winners of the 2015-2016 Generation adidas Cup.
The remaining teams (those that did not qualify for the Champions Division) will compete in the Premier Division.
Last year the Kia Toronto FC Academy Juniors qualified for the Champions Division and played against Sporting Kansas City Academy, Aspire Academy from Qatar, and River Plate from Argentina.
The Kia TFC Academy finished second in their group, three points behind eventual tournament winners River Plate.
