Toronto FC will be without defender Dan Gargan for Wednesday night’s match against New York at Red Bull Arena (kick off 7:30 p.m. live on GOLTV Canada). Gargan will be suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 2-1 win over Chivas at BMO Field on Saturday afternoon.
“It is really disappointing to have to miss the game now,” said Gargan after the match. “I didn’t think there was much in the challenge and it was my first of the afternoon so I was disappointed to get a yellow for that.”
“I will have to sit and watch the guys now but we have a good roster and I am sure whoever is out there will give everything for the team,” explained the defender who sent in a long throw for Nana Attakora to head in the first goal of the game.
Brazilian forward Maicon Santos will be assessed on Sunday after leaving the match early in the second half with a left knee sprain. His status for the game in New York is not yet known.
“It was really painful at the time,” said Maicon. “Now it doesn’t feel so bad, so hopefully it will be ok. I didn’t want to stay on and make it worse, because we have a lot of games coming up and I don’t want to have to miss any if possible."
