Dallas – The Toronto FC Academy U12s kicked off their 2017 GA Cup this morning at Toyota Park. The U12s play 7v7 with two 15 minute halves.
The team started the day with a hard-fought match against Orlando City. The Reds went ahead first on a Pariss Mitchell goal. Orlando equalised before the half.
The Lions jumped out ahead early in the second half before Kyrese Lynch-Bailey evened the score with a goal for the Reds. However, the Lions would score twice in quick succession to take the final 4-2 over the Reds.
The second game of the day was against the Portland Timbers. The Reds opened the scoring in the first half courtesy of a Josh Gordon strike. Just seconds off the restart, the Timbers found the back of the Reds net.
In the second half, Lynch-Bailey danced his way through the Timbers defence before darting past the keeper and sliding home the go-ahead marker. The teams would both trade dangerous chances before the final whistle.
The U12s are back in action tomorrow when they play both the Colorado Rapids and D.C. United.
