Canada Soccer announced today that five Toronto FC Academy athletes have been named to the Canadian National Team for the 2025 Concacaf U-17 Men’s Qualifiers. Canada is set to compete in the region’s FIFA U-17 World Cup qualifying competition at the Bermuda National Sports Centre in Bermuda from Friday, February 7 to Sunday, February 16.

Head Coach Mike Vitulano has selected 21 players in total including Antone Bossenberry, Richard Chukwu, Timothy Fortier, Dominic Kantorowicz and Elijah Roche from the Toronto FC Academy. Stefan Kapor has also been selected as an alternate player and will join the team for pre-tournament camp.

“As a Club, we are very proud of our TFC Academy players who have been selected as part of the U-17 National Team for World Cup Qualifying,” says Toronto FC Academy Director Anthony Capotosto. “The players have made great strides with their development and are all deserving of the opportunity to represent Canada at the international level. We wish them well and look forward to following the team’s progress throughout the event.”

A new single-round format surfaces for the 2025 qualifiers with 35 participating teams split into eight groups. Within each group, each team will play against each other once and the winner from all eight groups will qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, set to be held in Qatar from Wednesday, November 5 to Thursday, November 27.

Concacaf previously conducted the official draw on October 24, 2024, which saw Canada drawn into Group A, alongside Bermuda (host), Curacao, Anguilla, and Turks and Caicos Islands. Canada will kick off the competition against Turks and Caicos Islands on Sunday, February 9 before facing Anguilla on Tuesday, February 11 and Curacao on Thursday, February 13. Les Rouges will wrap up round-robin play against host city Bermuda on Sunday, February 16. A full schedule of the qualifiers can be found here.
