Dallas – Saturday marked the final day of competition for the TFC Academy teams down in Texas. The trip was closed out with three teams in action across the Dallas Fort-Worth area.
U-12s Close out GA Cup
The Toronto FC Academy U-12 (2006) team finished their GA Cup with a pair of placement games on Saturday morning.
They kicked off the day against the Chicago Fire. The Reds got a goal from Dylan Vanney but the Fire scored twice and took the match 2-1.
The Reds finished their trip with a match against the Houston Dynamo. The game ended 0-0 after the 30 minutes of regulation play. The match went straight to PKs and the Reds walked away with the win 3-2. Noah De Blasis, Michael Crocco and Massimo Caruso converted from the spot in the shootout.
Overall, the U-12s went 2-3-1 in their six matches at the GA Cup.
U-17s battle Real Madrid
The Toronto FC Academy U-17 (2001) team finished out their GA Cup with a match against Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The match ended 3-0 in favour of Real Madrid. Overall, the Reds went 1-3-1 during the GA Cup.
Toronto FC III play friendly
Across the town in Plano, Toronto FC III played a friendly against semi-professional side Dallas Elite FC. Dallas Elite plays in the USPL.
The first half was a cagey affair, as both teams did well to not concede. Late into the second half, Dallas Elite scored to break the deadlock and squeaked out the 1-0 win.
Overall, TFC III went 1-2-1 down in Dallas. TFC III will begin their League 1 Ontario campaign on April 29.
