The week that was for Kia Toronto FC Academy athletes in the NCAA:


Darrin MacLeod – Drake University

MacLeod and the Drake Bulldogs battled Omaha to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday. MacLeod had two saves in the contest.


The Bulldogs are now 9-3-1 on the season and will host SIUE in an important Missouri Valley Conference match on Saturday.


Eli Roubos – Florida Gulf Coast University

Roubos and the 22nd ranked FGCU Eagles (5-3-3) suffered a 2-1 overtime loss against FIU in their last home match of the regular season.


The loss on Tuesday snapped FGCU’s six-game unbeaten streak. The Eagles close out their regular season this Saturday against USC Upstate.


Ryan James – Bowling Green University

Ryan James and the Bowling Green Falcons fell to Western Michigan University 2-1 this past Saturday.


With the loss the Falcons’ record dropped to 6-7-1 on the season and are now winless in their last seven matches dating back to September 23. They will host West Virginia University on Saturday in what will be their final home match of the season.


Kevon Black and Oliver Spring – Duke University

Duke picked up a dramatic 2-1 overtime victory on the road against 10th ranked Elon.


TFC Academy player Kevon Black put in a cross that was headed home by Brody Huitema with seconds left on the clock to give Duke the win.


With the victory Duke improved their overall record to 7-6-2. The Blue Devils finish off their road schedule on Saturday against the University of Pittsburgh before returning home for their final two matches of the season.
