Campus Recap: Kia TFC Academy Athletes in the NCAA

The week that was for Kia Toronto FC Academy athletes in the NCAA:


Darrin MacLeod – Drake University

Goalkeeper Darrin MacLeod, the reigning Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, helped the Drake Bulldogs (6-2-0) pick up a 3-1 win against Evansville University.


MacLeod started and played the entire match for the Bulldogs, recording two saves in the victory.


Expect MacLeod to be between the pipes for their next match against the Missouri State Bears on October 3rd.


Eli Roubos – Florida Gulf Coast University

Eli Roubos played the full match as the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles picked up a 2-1 road victory against Brown University this past Friday.


The win helped improve FGSU’s record to 2-2-1 on the season. The Eagles take on Jacksonville University this Wednesday before travelling to Stetson University for their match on Saturday.


Ryan James – Bowling Green State University

Ryan James played 86 minutes in the BGSU Falcons’ 6-0 loss against the University of Dayton last Wednesday.


The Falcons (6-2-0) play back-to-back home games this week, first against Michigan State University on Tuesday followed by Northern Illinois University on Saturday.


Kevon Black and Oliver Spring – Duke University

The Duke Blue Devils fell to 2nd ranked rivals North Carolina Tar Heels 2-1 at Fetzer Field on Saturday. 


Head Coach John Kerr did not select Kevon Black and Oliver Spring for the match. With the loss the Blue Devils fall to an overall record of 4-3-1.


The Blue Devils are on the road to take on on Davidson College on Tuesday before returning home for their match against Syracuse University on Friday.
