Aspiring young soccer players can now hone their skills and learn from pros through Toronto FC’s new Training Programs. Open to youth between the ages of six and 14 years, the week-long camp and clinic-style programs will provide an opportunity for participants to develop their technical and tactical soccer fundamentals, all based on the player’s skill level.
The Training Programs begin in June and take place at the team’s new Academy and Training Facility at Downsview Park, which is slated to open this summer. Budding soccer players can take advantage of the First Team and Academy’s $20 million soccer facility that will include the strength and conditioning centre and video analysis theatre.
Participants will benefit from the technical direction of Thomas Rongen, Toronto FC’s Academy Director. Rongen, a native of Amsterdam, has held a variety of coaching positions with several Major League Soccer teams, led two FIFA U-20 World Cups, as well as serving as the head coach of the U-20 United States Men’s National team. Most recently he served as the head coach of the national team for America Samoa.
Registration for Toronto FC’s Youth Training Programs opens to the public on Thursday, March 15. Presales for returning training program participants, current Academy Families, Toronto FC Season Seat Holders, Club Academy Program participants, TFC Insiders and Coaches Open House attendees begin Thursday, March 1.
