TFC III at Oak

This is the Toronto FC Academy update for the weekend of May 12-14:


OPDL in full swing

The last of the academy’s OPDL teams kicked-off their season this week. The Toronto FC Academy U-14 team (2003) playing in the OPDL U-15 defeated Unionville Milliken 7-0 on Thursday. A brace from both Kosi Thompson and Luca Accettola and single goals from Kobe Franklin, Nakye Greenidge-Duncan and Juan Sanchez paced the Reds attack. Keeper Christian Calabro was strong between the sticks, recording an opening day clean sheet.


The Toronto FC Academy U-15 team (2002) playing in the OPDL U-16 rebounded from their season-opening defeat to shutout North Toronto 5-0. Theodor Corbeanu recorded a brace and Matthew Wrobel, Amir Batyrev, and Joshua Soloman all chipped in with a goal. Keeper Michael Kulas stopped all the shots he faced to record the clean sheet.


Elsewhere, the Toronto FC Academy U-13 team (2004) playing in the OPDL U-14 dropped their match against Hamilton United Elite 2-0. Well, the Toronto FC Academy U-12s (2005) battled Burlington Youth.


Toronto FC III falls in first road match

Toronto FC III fell in their first road game of the season on Sunday. The Oakville Blue Devils jumped out to the initial lead before defender Robert Boskovic equalised for the Reds just before the half.


Substitute Ethan Beckford scored in the 80th minute to give the Reds the lead. However, Oakville scored in the 85th and 89th minutes to steal away the three points from the Reds. TFC III is back in action on Saturday when they host North Mississauga at the Kia Training Ground.
