USSDA vs. ORL

USSDA Summer Showcase

The Toronto FC Academy U-16 (2001) and U-15 (2002/2003) teams were in Westfield, Indiana this week to compete in the 2017 USSDA Summer Showcase tournament. Both teams put in strong performances against top continental talent in their respective age groups.


The U-16s went 2-0-1 in their three matches. They opened their showcase with a 1-0 defeat of D.C. United Academy. Ryan Robinson scored the lone goal for the Reds.

The U-16s then went on to defeat Kendall SC 2-1. Lucas Areco and Tom Akinola were the goal scorers. The Reds closed out their showcase with a 2-2 draw against Orlando City. Sal Mazzaferro and Joe Mac had the goals in the match.

The U-15s opened the showcase with a 5-1 defeat at the hands of FC Golden State. Ryan Fazzalari had the goal. The team bounced back to defeat a strong Orlando City side in their second match. Amir Batyrev, Luca Accettola, and Cameron DaSilva had the goals in the 3-2 victory.


The U-15s closed out their showcase with a match against New York City FC. Accettola and Theodor Corbeanu had the goals in the 4-2 defeat. Next up for the U-15s is the Robbie International Tournament held over the Canada Day long-weekend.


U-14s stay undefeated

The Toronto FC Academy U-14 (2003) team that competes in the OPDL U-15 division continued their run of unbeaten form with a pair of victories this week.


They started the week with a 1-0 victory over United FA. Jason Gajadhar had the winner for the Reds.


The U-14s then went on the road to defeat Markham 4-0. Kobe Franklin had a brace and Kosi Thompson added another in the victory. The U-14s are now 8-0-0 on the season.


Elsewhere in the OPDL, the TFC Academy U-13 (2004) team that competes in the OPDL U-14 division fell at the hands of North Mississauga over the weekend. Miran Duncan and Shayan Soltanzadeh had the goals.


OSL Update

The TFC Academy U-17 team (2000) that competes in the OLS U-21 Elite division dropped its league match to Sigma FC on Saturday. Zak Abdi and Steffen Yeates had the goals for the Reds.


TFC III comeback to defeat Durham

Toronto FC III overcame a second-half deficit to defeat Durham United on Friday night. A full recap is available here
